The process of working with clay is many and varied. For the artist, when slab building and making a piece, he has to do the right thing in the right order at the right time, ‘or else I’ll lose it’  

Each part must be drawn and templated, rolled and cut, cured to leather hard, scored and slipped, assembled, refined, bisque fired and then glaze fired, sometimes more than once.

Only then is the piece complete, because he did the right thing, in the right order at the right time.

This process requires discipline, it provides structure, keeping the artist’s  head in the right place. 

This exhibition was the first in a series produced under the title Tell Tale. Tell Tale is a physical art space within the Haller Clarke Hurson studio and a digital platform which communicates visual, written or performance led work of associated artists and creatives.
