Patrick Colhoun’s sculpture seamlessly blends abstract expressionism with subtle elements of realism, creating compelling pieces that invite deep reflection. His distinctive use of colour and texture challenges conventional perceptions, making his work both visually striking and intellectually engaging.
With numerous exhibitions across the UK and internationally, Belfast based Patrick continues to contribute significantly to the contemporary art landscape.
Trained first in ceramics, he now creates sculptures and installations using ceramics, hosiery, neon, latex, piercings, video, and flat works. His early art focused on dark themes like death and decay, helping him process grief by turning tough topics into attractive forms. More recently, he still explores memory but with a more positive outlook. Bright colors and familiar shapes make his work feel lighter and playful. By returning to abstract forms, he explores ways to cope with life through color, order, and the act of making art itself.
