'Contain:er' at Bebox, Belfast

16th - 29th June 2017

An exhibition of contemporary sculpture by Patrick Colhoun.

‘Contain:er’ sees a return to Belfast for contemporary sculptor Patrick Colhoun after his second solo London exhibition ‘What Holds You Together?’ in March of this year.

Continuing with the more colourful and playful aesthetic theme of his more recent work, Colhoun takes over a double width shipping container as a pop up gallery in the new Bebox container park off Belfast’s Lisburn Road. The usual mix of unconventional materials such as hosiery, latex and cable ties combining with ceramic continue the artist’s  theme of ‘anti-ceramics’. Using the container doors as display plinths, and with a newly completed Russian constructivist themed mural by Visual Waste as the backdrop, the theme is certainly industrial and is so outside the box in terms of a traditional gallery situation.
